Living & Listening To Your Greatest Asset – Your HEART
by Brian J. Zahn - Certified Life Coach, Author and
Speaker
Along the journey of life, we all get knocked around.
Sometimes we even fall down, but most of the time we
manage to dust ourselves off and move on with a scrape or
two. How you treat these wounds are important. If you take
care of it, you'll soon realize that it fads away like it
never even existed. However, if you don't, a visible scar
will be left behind as a constant reminder of what took
place and for you to always remember.
Everything is all in the perception of how you view your
life and where you live. For most of us, we just want to
live within our hearts because it's our greatest asset.
It's what makes us who we are. It's are strength and
character in what makes us passionate and caring
individuals. If you take ownership of yourself, you will
live the life you were meant to live all along. Your
heart's light will continuously glow bright because you
are true to your feelings and emotions. If you don't,
you'll never learn from your mistakes and constantly keep
making the wrong decisions and be untrue to what once was
the most important part of who you were. The more scars
there are, the more pain, hurt and anguish you'll feel,
while moving further and further away from what was the
most important part of who you were. So for a moment, take
a deep breath and ask yourself this: "Am I truly living
and listening to my heart?"
President John F. Kennedy once said “that you don't know
where you're going, until you've known where you've been.”
This quote is a true reminder that if something fails,
remain positive, learn from it and move on. Try something
new until it feels right in your heart. However, what most
of us do is take the easy way out and throw in the towel
and give up. We just settle for less because it takes too
much time and energy to get what we want. We stop trying
and allow that scar to appear. We become our own obstacle.
We give into the pain and forget about what was once
important to us: our heart, feelings, passions and
emotions. Again, I ask you to take a deep breath and ask
yourself: "Am I truly living and listening to my heart?
When I was growing up in Long Island, NY, I remembered a
conversation that my grandmother, may she rest in peace,
once told me..."Life's very precious and it has so much to
offer. Go get what you want because you deserve the best.
Never let a day go by in your life without being truthful
to yourself because no one else will." As a grandchild,
you never understand why grandparents tell you these
things, however when you get older you realize that she
was trying to tell me the golden rules of true happiness.
Through her past experiences she was able to coach me
towards my life's future. How unselfish of a woman she
was, right?
Take a deep breath, ok take two or three this time, and
ask yourself these questions.
(1) Where are you in your life?
(2) How did you get here?
(3) Is this where you want to be?
Once you find out the answers, realize that you've taken
the first steps in the process of listening and living in
your heart. Remember, you are the most important person in
your life and your own happiness is worth fighting for.
So where do you go from here? This is where hiring a life
coach can help you put the glow back in your heart and
start living the life you were truly meant to live. It's
time to say enough is enough and start feeling the beat of
your own heart’s drum.
